Floor Tilers Brisbane – Indoor & Outdoor Tiling for Homes
Indoor and Outdoor Tiling for Entertaining and Everyday Living
Our Brisbane Floor Tiling
Whole-Home Floor Tiling With Seamless Transitions
BBT Renovations lays floor tiles for homes and commercial spaces across Brisbane, indoors and out, and the result you get is a floor that’s level, seamless, and finished the way a tradesperson would be proud to put their name to.
If your floors are going to be permanent, they should be perfect. We build them that way.
Floor Tiling Done Right — From Subfloor to Surface
Most tiling problems start before a single tile is laid. A poor substrate, an unlevel slab, skipped waterproofing — these are what cause grout cracks, hollow tiles, and floors that look tired within a few years. At BBT Renovations, we treat the prep work as seriously as the finish.
Every floor tiling job we take on in Brisbane includes:
- Subfloor Preparation & Levelling We assess and prepare your substrate before anything else. Whether it’s a new concrete slab, a timber subfloor, or an existing tiled surface, we level, prime and set the foundation correctly. Skipping this step is how other tilers end up with lippage and uneven joints. We don’t skip it.
- Waterproofing (Where It Applies) For internal wet areas — laundries, bathrooms, and outdoor-to-indoor transition zones, waterproofing is a non-negotiable part of the job. We apply compliant membranes before tiling begins, because what’s underneath the tile matters as much as what’s on top.
(See our Bathroom Renovations and Laundry Renovations pages for full wet area services.)

Indoor vs Outdoor Floor Tiling — The Difference Matters
Indoor and outdoor tiling aren’t the same job. Outdoor floor tiles need to handle Brisbane’s UV, heat, and rainfall, which means the tile specification, bedding adhesive, grout type, and drainage fall all have to be selected for the conditions. We specify correctly from the start so your outdoor entertaining area holds up as well in year five as it did on day one. (See our Outdoor Tiling page for alfresco, pool surrounds, and entertaining areas.)
Tile Types We Lay
We work with every major tile type used in residential and commercial floor tiling:
- Large-format porcelain: The go-to for contemporary open-plan homes. Fewer grout lines, cleaner look, demands precision cutting and a perfectly level substrate
- Ceramic tiles: Durable, cost-effective, and available in an enormous range of styles
- Natural stone: Travertine, slate, marble, and sandstone. Each slab is unique and needs to be handled accordingly; we understand grain, porosity, and how to seal and bed stone correctly
- Terrazzo: Increasingly popular in Brisbane homes for its durability and visual depth
- Large-format feature stone: Including crazy-cut flagstone and bespoke entryway work where each piece is placed and balanced by hand
Beyond the Basics
Staircases Internal tiled staircases are technically demanding work. Luke maps every step to align with adjacent floor tiles — consistent tread depth, perfect riser alignment, mitred corners or custom nosings, and matching patterns from floor to stair. Every staircase is fully laid out before a tile is cut.
Crazy Stone Feature Floors Feature entryways and indoor courtyards in crazy-cut natural stone are one of BBT’s signature finishes. Each piece is cut, placed and balanced by hand — no two are ever the same. These floors take longer, cost more, and are worth every cent.
Whole-Home Tiling Tiling throughout an entire home demands consistency: matching grout lines across rooms, transitions that work at doorways, and a unified visual flow from entry to living area to kitchen. We plan the full home layout before starting so every room connects.

How a Floor Tiling Job Runs With BBT Renovations
We’ve seen what happens when jobs are rushed or poorly scoped — and we’ve spent years building a process that avoids those problems. Here’s how a floor tiling project with us typically runs:
- Site Visit & Quote: We come to you. We assess the substrate, discuss tile choice, measure the space, and give you a clear quote.
- Tile Selection Guidance: Not sure what tile suits your space? We’ll guide you through format, finish, and material based on how the room is used, the light it gets, and the look you’re after.
- Subfloor Prep: Before any tile goes down, we level and prepare the substrate. This is where the quality of the finished floor is actually determined.
- Waterproofing (Wet Areas): For bathrooms, laundries, and any area exposed to moisture, waterproofing membranes are applied and cured before bedding begins.
- Layout Planning: We plan before cutting begins. Start points, symmetry, transitions between rooms, feature patterns, all mapped out so nothing is left to chance.
- Tile Laying: Tiles are laid with precision: consistent joint spacing, correct adhesive bed depth, and clean lines throughout. Large-format and natural stone work gets extra attention to bedding and alignment.
- Grouting & Finishing: We grout with care, clean back thoroughly, and finish any edge or threshold details to a high standard. This is where the job comes together visually.
- Seal (Where Required): Natural stone and some porcelain finishes benefit from sealing. We advise you honestly and apply correctly where it’s needed.
- Handover: You get a clean, complete floor — and we’re available if you have any questions after the job is done.
